Message from George Quarm - 20/1/2023

From my Study.

Hello Friends,

May this New Year bring actual change in you, not a recurrence of old habits in a new package.

Many people look forward to the New Year for a new start on old habits. Every year we try to diet and exercise. Maybe this year our plans will actually work.  A New Year is the chance to start over with a clean slate.

The year 2023 is like a train on a journey to the unknown. The train with it stations, with it changing routes, and with accidents which will be no one’s fault.

At birth we boarded the train and met our parents, and we believe they will always travel on our side. However, at some station our parents will step down from the train, leaving us on this journey alone.

As time goes by, other people will board the train: and they will be significant in our lives. Our siblings, friends, children and even the love of our life.

Many will step down and leave a permanent vacuum. Others will go so unnoticed that we do not realise that they vacated their seats! Which is very sad when you think about it.

This train ride will be full of joy, laughter, fantasy, expectations, hellos, sorrows and goodbyes and farewells.

Success consists of having a good relationship with all the passengers, requiring that we give the best of ourselves.

The mystery to everyone is. We do not know at which station we ourselves will step down. So, we must live in the best way.  Love, forgive, and offer the best of what we are. It is important to do this, because when the time comes for us to step down and leave our seats empty, we should leave behind beautiful memories for those who will continue to travel on the train of life.

Give out your best to God and Humanity and be nice to all on the train. Do not discriminate, hate and be choosy, but love all, speak well of others.

We need a path with no obstacles to make effective God’s Kingdom in the world and in our homes. But if we find a path with no obstacles, it probably does not lead anywhere. We need obstacles to make us strong and faithful Christians, we achieve this by reading the Scriptures, by prayer and fellowship, which I will encourage you to do. Make the year a blessing to your life.

Remember to Leave your worries and fears in God’s loving and capable hands. God will take care of you.

We must stop losing in life, and start winning in life, for life is a battle. Hold on to God, and trust in his care, providence and protection. Welcome on board the New Year Destiny Train. All the best. God bless you and the West Horsley Methodist Church family..

Devotedly Yours,

 George
